Back in Silverton after a few days spent in preparing Allymar for her trip south. The rule that the size of a boat decreases in size 2 fold for every foot you go up the mast is true and was seen on more that one occasion as LED mast lights, SSB antenna and new topping lift were installed. On the other hand the view is great from 50 feet up. Discovered that the inspection port to see the timing marks on the flywheel was hidden by a motor mount. Back to the old technique of watching the rocker arm and estimate TDC. I would be a bit more confident in the adjustment with a timing mark but the diesel runs smooth.
Now its provisioning, final adjustments, fixing the inevitable late problems and watching the weather for a departure date in the first week of September. I will miss Winchester Bay and all of the great friends I have made during our stay there. Flying the HaHa flag brings new opportunities to develop relationships as dock walkers wander by and talk about their thoughts of "going south".
In San Diego I will meet up with friends we met in Canada last year (Clark and Nina) who will be crewing on the Ha Ha this year. Check out the Ha Ha list, good to see all of the Oregon boats signed up this year. Maybe with refigeration we will have some good beer for the trip down the coast of Ba Ha.
Harp will drive me over on friday and I will really miss her as I travel. I am so blessed to have this opportunity to have this awesome trip with the blessing of Harp. I will hopefully fly home from San Diego to see her.
