It has been a considerable time since I either posted or looked at this blog. Seems like time to do so as time until I leave to go south on Allymar is fast approaching. Harp can't go with me as her Piriformis Muscle is still a problem, but will join me in Mexico. Health insurance is now a part of her life and more intensive medical intervention is in the works. We now live in Silverton Oregon and she works for the VA as an NP in primary care. I work as much as the social security rules allow to refresh the cruising kitty.
Allymar is fast getting to cruising trim after a rough cosmetic winter on the Oregon coast. Lots of that green color that seems to appear so easily. So, besides the usual mechanical fitting out, there is the job of trying to remove the green from the canvas and re varnishing the bright work.
Plan is to leave just after the first of September to go south. On the schedule of ports are Eureka and Humboldt Bay, San Fran, Monterey, San Simeon, the Channel Islands and finally San Diego where we will do the Ha Ha. I must admit that it was a bit "too many people" last year, but the chance to meet fellow sailors makes it worthwhile.
Silverton versus Ashland and the Rogue valley: Cooler, more people, less transplant Californians, more traffic and crazy drivers, less pollution (at least here in Silverton), really miss my friends, great garden space. The move here was hard for me as so much of my life was in Ashland.
Solid ground and dirty gardening hands.
